NY Mayor Bloomberg:
No Foods Stamps for Jobless Singles

"The Mayor of the City of New York has decided that in New York City,
single individuals - single men and women - who will lose their jobs shouldn't
be allowed to eat," said City Comptroller Bill Thompson. "That's as simple as
it gets. He decided they shouldn't be allowed to put food on the table."

In Memory of Marie Babare Edwards --
Pioneer of "Singles Pride" Movement

From her "Singles' Manifesto" in 1974:

"I will, by choosing to live a free single life,
be helping to raise the status of singlehood.
In doing this, I will be strengthening rather
than weakening marriage, for when we truly
have the option not to marry, marriage will
be seen as a free choice rather than one
demanded by a pairing society."
